Today is World Biodiversity Day! 🌍🌱🐊🐍🐝🐨🐦
The term Biodiversity refers to the myriad of ways different species and communities of living creatures – plants, insects, humans – interact with each other and make our planet habitable.
The United Nations first created the event in 1993, where their aim was to promote awareness about biodiversity, sustainability and climate change. This year’s slogan is “We’re part of the solution #ForNature”, following on from last year’s theme: “Our solutions are in nature”.
Protecting native biodiversity is a large part of WIRES work. Every day our member’s rescue, care for and release native animals which are essential for ecosystem health and we do it #ForNature.
