Eastern Tube-nosed Bat

Nyctimene robinsoni

The Eastern Tube-nosed bat is a small to medium-sized fruit bat found along the coast and ranges of eastern Australia from around Lismore in NSW north to Cape York, the Torres Strait islands and New Guinea in tropical and subtropical woodland and rainforest, wet sclerophyll forest and heathland. It is listed as vulnerable in NSW.

The Eastern Tube-nosed bat feeds on a range of native and exotic fruits, nectar, flowers and pollen, and as all flying-fox species are important seed dispersers and pollinators.

Roost sites are generally close to feeding areas, where it may roost is small groups or sometimes by itself amongst the foliage.
